nex benedict was a nonbinary child who was assigned female at birth, and was murdered in the girls' bathroom of his school. this case got a lot of attention
many nonbinary people and trans men have stories of getting harassed and attacked for being in women's spaces that don't get this much attention.
and people are still out here claiming that bathroom bills only harm trans women. that trans men and nonbinary people are safe or even welcome in women's bathrooms.
yes. we're so welcome that we get harassed, attacked and murdered. they really think we belong there, don't they.
sure. they may say it's about chromosomes or genitals or gender assigned at birth. but actions speak louder than words. they can say whatever they want, if all kinds of trans people still get attacked in women's bathrooms, it's not about excluding trans women. it's about preserving cisgenderism. it's about banning ALL trans people from public life as much as possible. this was never about bodies or sex or AGAB. this was always about cisgenderism.
spreading the idea that we are safe in women's bathrooms because we have the "right" chromosomes or the "right" genitals, while we are being abused and killed for being there is a very dangerous idea to be spreading.
especially especially especially after nex's case got so much attention. did you take nothing at all away from this?
they literally constantly say "women" when they mean "cis women". why would it be any different when they say "women's spaces"? they are not for us trans people whatsoever.
they see all trans people as invaders into women's spaces because they are cis women's spaces. and they have outright called afab nonbinary people and trans men invaders. for all intents and purposes, by being trans or nonbinary (even nonbinary women!), we have given up our woman card and are seen as invaders. they hate trans people for claiming womanhood when it's supposedly "not theirs", but they also hate trans people for "moving away from" womanhood, for "betraying women".
